About kitchen sink and faucet Your kitchen sink is the center of kitchen work and is the most-used fixture in the kitchen. You will want to outfit your kitchen with the largest size of single-bowl sink that will fit your kitchen’s specifications. Or, if space allows, you may want to build to side-by-side kitchen sinks, complete with soap dispensers and separate faucets. By planning to build two full-sized sinks into your remodeled kitchen, you will be able to accommodate two or more cooks easily. As you plan your sink or sinks, remember to not make the sink deeper than nine inches. A sink deeper than this will require you to bend and stoop to reach dishes, resulting in back strain. Whether you have one sink or two, you will find that a large-sized sink will make dish washing as well as food preparation much more comfortable and convenient. And when unexpected guests drop by, you will appreciate how well your large sink hides that pile of dirty dishes! Sinks that are installed in an undermount configuration tend to work best for cooks. Cooks can easily scrape waste scraps from the counter into the sink bowl with an undermount sink. A sink with a lip requires the scraps to jump from counter level, over the lip of the sink, and into the basin. As you search for the right sink, you may find yourself attracted to sinks with multiple bowls. However, you will want to stay away from sinks that have double or triple bowls that are small in size. Such sinks can be quite difficult to use. You will want the largest sink possible while still making efficient use of kitchen and counter space. For this reason, you may want to avoid round-shaped sinks, which will unnecessarily eat up counter space. Practical considerations should be uppermost in your mind as you design your kitchen and choose kitchen fittings. Consider what practical features you will need your kitchen to offer you while you are cooking. Lever faucets with a single handle offer you the convenience of easily turning the water on. Use your elbow to turn on the water when your hands are covered in dough or flour. When washing dishes, you will appreciate gooseneck faucets that make washing and rinsing large pots a breeze. Sinks equipped with sprayers that pull out also add convenience to your sink, as the spray can be used to clean oddly-shaped, large dishes and pans and can also be used to thoroughly clean the sink when your sink work is finished.
